Property owners and residents affected by the recent flooding in southern Alberta, are coming to find out, or already know, overland flood water that enters a residential property is uninsurable.
Some residents may have purchased sewer backup coverage and could have coverage under their policy to cover that type of loss. It’s important to know there is a distinction between sewer backup and flood, and in some cases, the damage may be a combination of the two. Therefore, it is important to report the loss to your insurer so they can assist in determining the cause of your specific loss.
